KustomKraft was founded in 2020 by husband and wife team Dave and Jeanne Greene. Leveraging Dave’s experience as a member of the Leadership Team for an international construction equipment company, the pair bought a second-hand Roland DG SG-540 printer cutter and began making safety decals for the Hire and Rental industry from their garage. That SG-540 is still an integral part of their operations today, sitting alongside several newer, more advanced Roland DG devices that produce the full breadth and quality of products they do.

KustomKraft started in 2020 during the pandemic lockdowns in Victoria. Like a number of people at the time, Dave and his wife Jeanne were facing big changes - Dave was made redundant from his job for an international construction equipment company. Rather than sit still, Dave and Jeanne decided to take a leap and start a business of their own.

They bought a second-hand Roland DG SG-540 printer cutter and began making safety decals from their garage. With over 35 years’ experience in the field, they knew tough decals in vibrant colour that could be produced quickly, were exactly what was needed in the Hire and Rental industry.

Early in their journey, Dave and Jeanne welcomed a third collaborator, Mark, to support the day-to-day operations of the business. With a background in lithographic printing and an ability to connect with people, Mark understands clients’ needs and exceeds expectations. This trio are the brains and brawn behind KustomKraft’s growth.

Scaling up to stay ahead of demand

Very quickly after launching the business, their original SG-540 was running flat-out, and it became clear that it couldn’t keep up with the volume of work coming in. KustomKraft were turning away jobs they knew they could handle with the right equipment.

This gave Dave and Jeanne the impetus to invest in their first new printer, the Roland DG TrueVIS SG2-640. According to Dave “it was a game-changer. The 64" format gave us the ability to take on bigger projects like car wraps and custom wallpaper, and really opened the door to offer a much wider range of services to our clients.”

Since then, they’ve added a TrueVIS VG3-640 large-format inkjet printer cutter and a CAMM-1 GR2-640 Large Format Vinyl Cutter to their operations to help them stay on top of demand and deliver high-quality work faster and more efficiently.

So from humble beginnings, the business has expanded into a dynamic and growing operation offering an extensive range of products — all delivered with a strong focus on quality, quick turnaround, and good old-fashioned service.

New devices open up application opportunities

KustomKraft’s predominate focus is on producing safety decals, EWP decal kits, machinery signage, and vibrant vehicle graphics and they’ve built a solid reputation for quick turnaround and durable prints that endure tough conditions.

With their new equipment they’ve been able to branch out into car wraps, custom wallpaper, larger-scale signage and produce more creative, high-impact work, servicing clients beyond the Hire and Rental industry.

Dave says “we’re always asking ourselves; What can we do that’s ‘Kool’ or different?”. A mindset that has led them to experiment with domed decals, banners, wallpaper signage and other unique applications.

Dave firmly believes that “having the right gear gives us the freedom to keep pushing the limits and offering something fresh to our customers.”
